2019 Luminary Caregiver Awards

Silent Heroes in the Fight Against Alzheimer’s

According to the national Alzheimer’s Association, 5.8 million Americans—and 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s disease. Of course those numbers only tell part of the story, as the full effects of the disease are even more profound. Some 16 million Americans annually provide unpaid care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia.

That’s why the Masonic Home at Union City is holding its third annual Luminary Caregiver Awards Gala in recognition of the tireless caregivers who so often go overlooked.

Saturday, June 29, 5:30 p.m. at Masonic Home Union City
34400 Mission Blvd. Union City, CA 94587
Tickets $80 (seating limited)
RSVP by June 24 to Kim Hegg at khegg@mhcuc.org to reserve seats

The ceremony, to be held June 29, honors the compassionate spirit, hard work, and devotion of these behind-the-scenes nurses, family members, and loved ones in the Tri-City area with a Luminary Caregiver Award. This year’s event will include the presentation of the Millennial award, given to a deserving young person caring for a loved one; the John A. Charland, Jr. Innovation award, presented to a caregiver using technology in profound new ways; and the Inspirational award, to one whose story provides others with motivational support. Members of the Tri-City Senior Commission will vote on nominees and select winners.

All Tri-City residents are invited to the Masonic Home at Union City for the awards ceremony, Saturday, June 29 at 5:30 p.m. The cocktail-attire event will include food and drinks, live music and entertainment, a silent auction and raffle. All funds raised will support nonprofit organizations and caregivers in their fight against Alzheimer’s disease. The Masonic Homes of California is proud to play a part in raising awareness around Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, honoring those who live with the disease and those who care for them each day.
