Let’s Stay Safe and Have Fun this Holiday Season!

The holidays are a time to come together with friends and loved ones. Obviously, this year, that’s a little more complicated, as cases of COVID-19 surge across the country. As you are aware, California State, Alameda County, and Los Angeles County governments are issuing rules about small gatherings, which include holiday gatherings and we must comply with those rules.

So from now through New Year’s, we’ll be sharing ideas about ways to enjoy this special time of year while keeping ourselves, our families, and communities safe and healthy. Each week, we’ll send out a new idea to make your life simpler—and your celebrations special.

Week 1: Bring on the Thanks!

Plan ahead for a memorable Thanksgiving

Take advantage of our late-season California sunshine and hold your Thanksgiving meal (a first-ever Thanksgiving brunch, anyone?) outdoors, where the risk of spreading the Coronavirus is significantly reduced. To keep everyone safe, limit the group to 10 people, practice social distancing, and make the event BYOE: Bring Your Own Everything. (That means food, drinks, cutlery, etc.) Start planning now so everyone’s prepared.

Want a weather-proof alternative? Host a virtual gathering on Thanksgiving day. Invite guests to a group video chat and choose a host to lead a few Thanksgiving-inspired activities. Our pick: Have everyone start a daily “gratitude jar,” which you drop little notes of gratitude in each day. During the event, take turns reading aloud.

We’ll be back next week with your next tip. Till then, have a healthy and happy week!
